Wee Fieldmouse Mittens Pattern

Added on: February 8th, 2022

Sometimes inspiration just hits and you have to drop everything else and follow through on the inspiration.  That was the case with this wee mouse.  I am forever daydreaming (and dreaming) about possible design ideas, scouring the internet for images that I connect with.  Most of my ideas are nature inspired and all of them tell a story in their design.  I found a picture of a little mouse hiding under a mushroom and sheltering from the rain and I knew I had my next design.

Fingering weight yarn is a great way to create detail in a project and it’s my favourite for mittens with any colour work involved. You can get more details using a fingering weight yarn. This particular pattern uses a light fingering. The colours you choose has an important role in how the design  will look when it’s done. The colours I chose remind me of a tapestry.

Skilled Used: Knitting in the round, stranded knitting, two-colour long tail cast on, Latvian Braid, thumb construction
